Today’s technology professionals are under a type of pressure that did not exist 10-to-20 years ago. As technology has improved, so have the threats that can be used against it. These threats can come in the form of security compromises, employees not following protocol, data breaches, lost or damaged data, and much more.
Finding competent and well-trained IT professionals is of the utmost importance, regardless of an organization being part of the military, government or the private sector. And having highly qualified IT professionals can come at a high price, which is a positive to Six Sigma-IT certified professionals. So, if you are an IT professional seeking to improve your credentials, which in turn can help boost your career and salary potential, here are three professional IT certifications you cannot afford to ignore.
A Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) has many hats to wear and must be able to switch them at a moment’s notice. A CISSP professional is someone who creates information security policies and procedures. According to the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)², the leading certifying body of CISSP, “CISSP certification is not only an objective measure of excellence, but a also [sic] globally recognized standard of achievement.”
Professionals with five or more years of experience working full-time in information security are the ideal candidates to become a CISSP – an internationally recognized credential. The (ISC)² explains that in order for an IT professional to qualify to take the ISSP Certification<a/> exam, they must have experience in at least two of these 10 fields:
- Access Control
- Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning
- Information Security Governance and Risk Management
- Legal, Regulations, Investigations and Compliance
- Operations Security
- Physical (Environmental) Security
- Security Architecture and Design
- Software Development Security
- Telecommunications and Network Security
